El siguiente paso son los desconchones, a imagen y semejanza de algunas fotografias, desconche sobre todo los guardabarros delanteros y el tubo del cañón, con acrilicos de vallejo y alternando pincel con la técnica de la esponja:

A partir de aqui me cuesta más contar de forma medianamente ordenada lo que hago, entro en fase «DEFCON 2» como yo la llamo, que consiste en hacer lo que me sale del alma, sin mucho orden ni método, es usar oleos, pigmentos, productos de acabado de AK, para viendo fotografías, ir haciendo manchas, rastros de combustible, suciedad, etc. etc.

Por fin vuelta a los Vehículos Militares, tras unos meses centrado en exclusiva en las figuras para el que será mi próximo libro, ya toca acometer nuevos proyectos, y hacer un par de maquetas. Una va a ser el maravilloso Churchill de Tamiya a escala 1/48, se trata de la versión Mk.VII, del que haré la versión estándar, no la lanzallamas.
Finally, I’m back to AFV Models, after a few months focused exclusively on the figures for my next book, now I have to undertake new projects, and make a couple of models. One will be wonderful 1/48 Tamiya’s Churchill, it’s the Mk.VII version, which I’ll do the standard version, not the flamethrower.

Como siempre se puede y se deben mejorar, aquellas piezas que la tecnología de inyección de plástico no llega, como la bocacha de la ametralladora, y ahuecar esta pieza del guardabarros, todo esto aporta fineza al conjunto.

Las cadenas, siempre una de las partes más tediosas de los Vehículos Militares, se hacen en menos de una hora, salvo por algunas huellas de expulsores que es preciso lijar, son perfectas.

Os presento la que será mi próxima maqueta a escala 1/48, además de un Sturmhaubitze 42, del que en breve os mostraré también fotografías.
Esta la voy a hacer por dos razones, por que me gusta este vehículo, y por que quiero formar parte del Taller «British Armour» a esta escala que se esta haciendo en el Grupo de Facebook «1/48 Armor Modelling» en Facebook.
Los modelistas que impulsan y moderan este grupo son Masanori Sato y Luciano Rodriguez, Luciano es un modelista canario de amplio registro, y un enamorado defensor de esta escala, de la que hace una labor ingente de difusión, en redes sociales y revistas, además es amigo al que tengo en gran aprecio, ¡Y que narices! me apetece participar en el y ser uno mas en mostrar su trabajo colaborando en sus iniciativas.
De esta maqueta en concreto os hablare más adelante, conforme vaya avanzando en el montaje, si quiero hacer unas reflexiones sobre la escala 1/48 en Vehículos Militares, se que no tiene mucho predicamento al menos aqui en España, yo pienso que es una desconocida a la que hay que darle una oportunidad, e invitaría a todo modelista, a que le hiciera sitio en su vitrina.
Confieso, que al principio me equivoque, y las primeras que hice las detallé y trabajé igual que las maquetas de la escala reina, 1/35, pero para eso, ya está la 1/35, el pleno disfrute de estas maquetas es hacerlas de caja con algún sencillo aditamento, que las afine y detalle, pero sin llegar a la profundidad de la escala mayor.
Insinuar en vez de mostrar, que se note que «algo hay» sin necesidad de detallarlo hasta el ultimo tornillo, de esta forma se monta rápido y bien, Tamiya lidera la propuesta, con su legendario saber hacer, prácticamente todos los vehículos con cadenas, vienen con los eslabones en tramos, algunos modelos realmente no necesitan nada para quedar perfectos. Hauler, tiene planchas de diferentes grados de complejidad, de las que podremos tomar rejillas, y otras piezas suficientes para afinar lo necesario para que nuestra maqueta luzca perfecta.
Otra ventaja es que al tener mucha menos superficie a pintar, se pintan rápido, contrariamente a la escala 1/72 que tiene tratamientos diferentes, las técnicas son prácticamente las mismas que la escala grande, con lo que se convierten en maquetas ideales para iniciarse, practicar, hacer estudios de técnicas (véase el Panzer38), o simplemente disfrutar del modelismo sin más pretensiones.

I´m introducing you my next 1/48 scale model as well, as Sturmhaubitze 42 which shortly I’ll post soon some pictures of it.
I will to do this one for two reasons. First because I like this vehicle, and second because I like taka part of the Workshop «British Armour», developed on Facebook Group «1/48 Armor Modelling «.
The modellers that inspire this group are Masanori Sato and Luciano Rodriguez. Luciano is a canary modeller of wide register, and a defender and lover of this scale. He makes an enormous labor of diffusion, in social networks and magazines. He is also my friend, who I have in great appreciation, and I like to take part and to be one more modeller showing his work and to collaborate in this initiative.
I will tell you about this model when I was advancing on the assembly but I want to do a few reflections to the scale 1/48 in AFV models. They haven’t much prestige, at least here in Spain . I think they are unknown, and it’s necessary to give him an opportunity, and I would invite every modeller to give them a place in their showcase.
Initially I confess I was wrong. The first ones that I made, I detailed them and worked as 1/35 scale models, but it is not the same scale. The full enjoyment of these models is to do them «Out of the Box» (OOB) with some simple add-on parts, to refine and to detail, but without coming to the depth of the major scale.
To insinuate instead of showing, that is obvious that » something is » without need to detail it up to the last screw, of this form is mounted quickly and good, Tamiya leads the offer, with his legendary know-how. Most of track vehicles come with the links in sections, so some models really do not need anything to remain perfect. Hauler has plates of different degrees of complexity, which we will be able to take grids with them, and other sufficient pieces to enhance the necessary thing in order that our model seems perfect.
Another advantage is because having less surface, the painting is faster. Contrary to the 1/72 scale that has different treatments, the techniques are practically the same ones that the big scale, so they become ideal models to begin, to practice, to study new techniques (see the Panzer38), or simply to enjoy modelling with no more pretensions.
If you don´t have any 1/48 scale model you are already late…
En el ámbito de las Bellas Artes, se denomina estudio, al boceto preparatorio para una obra pictórica o escultórica, esta maqueta se puede decir, que es un «Estudio de Maqueta».
Creo que con lo anterior ya está clara la intención que tenía cuando la hice, esto servirá para un futuro modelo a 1/35, más preparado y trabajado. La idea es realizar un ensuciado y empolvado «asimétrico», en las largas y extenuantes cabalgadas de la Blitzkrieg, en las primeras etapas de la 2ª G.M., las Panzertruppen alemanas, realizaban grandes avances rápidos que desconcertaron a las fuerzas a las que se enfrentaban.
Un carro, podia avanzar en un dia 40-50 o incluso más kilómetros en columna por un camino, comiéndose el polvo de los carros que iban delante de el. ¿Como se ensuciaría en ese caso en vehículo? La respuesta es obvia, la parte frontal estaría prácticamente cubierta de polvo, y el resto con menor intensidad.
Intentar reproducir ese efecto, es el estudio que he llevado a cabo en este modelo, con la intención de repetirlo en otro a escala 1/35 mas adelante.
Con la idea en la mente clara, habia que elegir una maqueta para el estudio, para esto la escala «bastarda» 1/48, resulta ideal, montaje rápido, encaje extraordinario típico de Tamiya, se monta en 2 tardes (literalmente), y decoración en Gris Panzer, excelente para contrastar con polvo y tierra acumulada.
A destacar que me estrené con los colores AK Real Colors, que me han parecido excelentes, el resto procesos típicos, para desgaste y envejecimiento.
Las fotografías están tomadas con fondo blanco para resaltar al máximo el modelo, tomar fotos con este fondo es un poquito más difícil, pero con los ajustes precisos el resultado es excelente.

When we talk about Fine Arts, a study is the sketch of a pictorial or sculptural work. Then we can say this model is a » Study of Model «.
I think the intention was clear when I did this model. It will serve for a more prepared and hard worked future model in1/35 scale. The idea is to make a dirty and dusty «asymmetric» weathering, in the long and gruelling Blitzkrieg «horseback rides» in the first stages of WW2. German Panzertruppen realized big fast forward that they disconcerting the enemy forces.
An AFV can advance 40-50 or even more kilometres a day., getting dirt with dust of previous vehicles that were going in front of it. How it would get dirty in this case? The response is obvious: the frontal part would be practically covered of dust and dirt, and the rest with minor intensity.
To try to reproduce this effect, it is the study that I did on this model, with the intention of repeating it later on another 1/35 model.
With a clear idea in mind, I must to choose a model for the study. For this, the «bastard» scale 1/48 turns out to be ideal, rapid assembly, Tamiya’s extraordinary typical fits. It’s mounted during 2 evenings, and decoration in Grey Panzer, excellent to contrast with dust and accumulated earth.
I musts say that I used for the first time Ak Real colors on this, which have seemed to me to be excellent. The rest are typical weathering processes.
White background stands out to the maximum the model on the pictures. Taking photos with this background it’s a bit more difficult, but with the precise adjustments the result is excellent.
